Coaching and Leadership Across the Pond

For this episode of our podcast Maureen Leif and Liz Bullard meet with executive coach and leadership trainer Gemma Hilario, for an informal conversation about work, leadership, coaching, and life—as it happens in between.

Gemma is new to this podcast, and to the Grays Peak team. She and Maureen met just weeks ago and became fast friends, enthusiastic and fascinated with each other’s worlds, that happen to be on the two distinct side across the pond. In Fact Gemma is from, and currently lives, in Killarney, Ireland, where Maureen happened to travel this past summer.

Gemma is our first international guest on our podcast, and we are happy to conclude a fantastic year for Grays Peak Strategies with her on the podcast, as a omen of what is to come in 2025: we know this will not be her only appearance.

When they met in September, Gemma and Maureen immediately recognized each other as belonging to the same group of humans, working passionately in the human services, not just getting things done, but trying to make a difference in their respective fields, which, as we discover in this episode, cross paths and concepts.

Fresh from yet another trip abroad, Maureen asked Liz and Gemma to meet, and new ideas and projects became to take shape in the midst of jetlag and dreamy foreign scenarios. As Gemma shares some insightful notion of her life, her passion, her approach to coaching and leadership, Liz and Maureen are comparing mental notes about their recent leadership retreat in Italy and how powerful it was from a group of leaders to be transplanted elsewhere and showed a different approach to leadership, through the senses, in stunning locations. As you will hear from Maureen herself, her brain is already at work on yet another interesting project on the other side of the world.

Listen to the podcast and imagine to take a walk in Killarney’s national park with these three amazing women in conversation today.

Gemma takes us on a life journey, sharing bits of her exciting life across continents and cultures. She has lived and worked in a number of countries, meeting several challenges than helped shaping her future career as executive coach. Coaching is her passion and integrating it into human services is an aspect of Grays Peak that Gemma cherishes and that resonates with her; serving the underserved population, the marginalized, the invisible ones is a common thread between Gemma and Grays Peak.

Gemma loves working with leaders who are looking for challenges, to scale off, to grow, and that are willing to work on their blind spots to get better at what they do.

Last but not least, she is a mother of four, a fact per se that requires leadership skills and coaching tips!
Enjoy this lovely conversation and stay tuned for more on Gemma and her beautiful country!
