Podcast Episode - Making work from home Work

A clean and well organized workspace can help keep you productive

Over the last few months, we have all had to get used to a lot of new things. One that we are hearing a lot about is the change to working from home. For those of us lucky enough to be working, and to have jobs where it’s possible, working from home has become our new normal. In a recent article from Forbes Online, they refer to this as a “large scale experiment in remote work”. According to the article, this experiment will likely result in lasting changes. In another article in Fortune Online,  more companies are recruiting remote workers, and we are seeing it in fields we haven’t thought of previously. For those of us working in Human Services, it seems less likely, and perhaps more challenging in some ways, but I think we are starting to see a shift in service delivery models, and the use of technology to make even direct services possible with remote work.

For many people, this is not a natural shift, and is not an easy thing to get used to. We are creatures of habit and change is challenging even when it may be positive in some respects. Of course, working from home now comes with the added baggage of stress and anxiety over what’s going on with COVID (and murder hornets?) as well as home schooling and other issues that previous remote workers may not have had to think about.

In this episode, Kenora Dagon has a conversation with Maureen Leif about working from home. Maureen made the transition from an office environment to working from home when she started Grays Peak Strategies about 4 years ago. She talks about some of the ways she has been able to make this transition work, and how this recent situation has caused her to need to shift even further.
